Abstract

In the scientific study, it is noted that the globalization of education, despite several advantages, also generates numerous issues in the practices of maintaining academic integrity: competition among educational institutions leads to discrepancies in ethical standards; it exacerbates the issue of knowledge/learning achievement verification; it causes breaches of ethical norms in research activities; it leads to an increase in cases of academic dishonesty, among others. The authors of the study aimed to identify and analyze existing problems and outline ways to ensure academic integrity in the context of educational globalization. The research concluded that overcoming the problem: 1) of discrepancies in ethical standards among different cultures is possible by reorienting educational systems in several countries from memorization and reproduction of information to active learning, which includes critical thinking, independent work, and a creative approach; 2) of knowledge verification / academic achievements requires the establishment of universally accepted international assessment standards, which allow determining the level of academic achievement of students from different countries and educational systems, using various assessment methods that consider cultural, ethical, and linguistic characteristics of students and educators from different countries, and applying modern technologies to detect plagiarism; 3) of ethical breaches in research activities requires the development of universally accepted ethical codes that take into account the diverse cultural and scientific traditions of different countries, conducting regular training that covers key aspects of scientific ethics, methods of detecting and avoiding ethical violations, and mechanisms for reporting suspected violations, and creating mechanisms for monitoring and accountability for adherence to ethical norms; 4) of increasing cases of academic dishonesty requires the implementation of ethical codes, the use of technological means, supporting students in overcoming language and cultural barriers, ensuring fair learning and assessment conditions, as well as strengthening international cooperation
