Abstract
Education helps people realize their potential through the development of core values and the acquisition of fundamental knowledge for effective participation in work and life and the formation of a better society. Education systems can use technology to improve the acquisition of basic skills, but the definition of basic skills continues to expand as the world changes under the influence of technology. In the context of the introduction of information and communication technologies (ICT) into the traditional educational process and the need to develop appropriate methodological support for the practical application of ICT, the definition of the methodology of using technologies is formulated and the idea of building a didactic structure of the methodology of using ICT in the educational process is considered. The article describes the necessity of digital technologies in education and discusses the main programs and their advantages in education. Globalization of education has already caused the need to use digital technologies. Online platforms were available for conducting classes, sharing resources, conducting assessments and managing the day-to-day activities of academic institutions. However, the use of these platforms was active. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced higher education institutions to switch to an online learning mode to support the education system. The specific nature of the use of ICT is emphasized and it is indicated that the types of their application should correspond to the pedagogical approach (paradigm) of teachers, and the maximum effect was noticeable in those teachers who purposefully integrated ICT in their courses for a long period of time. Developed countries were well prepared to overcome this crisis. However, developing countries have made considerable efforts to meet this requirement. Digital technologies have become the saviors of education in this critical time. This global crisis emphasizes the need for international integration in the education system.
