Abstract
The potential of extracurricular work in formation of the readiness of a specialist for future professional activity is characterised. It is emphasized that extracurricular activities are considered by scholars not so much in terms of additional classes and prolongation of the educational process, but rather from the standpoint of labour education, promotion of professional and social development of future specialists, including the impact on their worldview, beliefs, etc. The characteristic features of students' extracurricular work (activities) are highlighted. The main types of extracurricular work are identified, namely: socially useful, game, cultural and leisure, social and communicative. The existing studies in the national science on the concept of ‘readiness’, which is understood as an internal property of an individual, constituting the integral system and providing him with the opportunity to ensure the planned result of his actions in the form of achieving specific goals, are analysed. The article allocates the following aspects of consideration of the phenomenon of readiness for professional activity: personal (readiness is a holistic personal formation that integrates a set of internal factors necessary for carrying out a certain activity); functional (readiness is a mental state of a personality that contains the potential to activate all functions, including mental ones, for carrying out a certain activity); personal-activity (readiness is a manifestation of all facets of a personality that allow to carry out a certain activity effectively); acmeological (readiness is a person's self-perception of the activity, reflection, combined with the awareness of the need for purposeful self-formation, awareness of the personal and social significance of the activity); performance and activity (readiness is the result of the preparation process). The components that compose professional readiness are identified: motivational, theoretical, operational, evaluative and volitional. The general principles of extracurricular activities are presented: accessibility, positive development, monitoring and optimisation, relevance, practicality, and technological efficiency. The personal qualities, the formation of which should be facilitated by extracurricular activities, are presented.
