Abstract
The article reveals Singapore’s continuous design education system as one of the best in the world. It is noted that all education in the country is formal. Design education begins with junior high school and goes through all educational levels and ends with postgraduate education. To oversee the operation and development of design education and design activities in Singapore, the Design Singapore Council was established under the Ministry of Information, Communication and Arts. It was noted that the education system in general and design education in particular is quite complex. In modern school education in Singapore, there is a dominant system where students study for 6 years in primary school and 4 years in secondary school. At these levels, the subject of design and technology is studied. The article presents the specifics of teaching design and technology students at each stage. The principle of stream distribution of students in secondary school, which was in the past, and full grouping by subjects, which was introduced from 2024, is given. At the same time, it is noted that during their studies in secondary school, students will learn more about their academic strengths and weaknesses and will be able to change the level of study of their subjects, adapting them to their learning opportunities, increasing or decreasing it. With this approach, students will spend about 30 % of their learning time on mixed subjects of the general program, in particular, on design and technology. Starting from the third year of high school, students can study design and technology as an optional subject. After graduating from high school, students will receive a certificate that will give them the opportunity to continue studying design at different educational levels depending on their educational success: specialist, bachelor, master, doctor. They will receive their pre-university education by studying at a junior college of pre-university education or a centralized institute, which offer a wide range of elective programs and subjects in design. Higher education in Singapore offers design training in most areas of design. The country also operates a program (SCTP) aimed at supporting Singaporeans in changing careers and providing opportunities for specialists in various fields to improve their qualifications. This provides designers with the opportunity to improve their professional level, or specialists from related fields to acquire the necessary design competencies
