Abstract
Naoki Matayoshi's novel "火花 (Spark)" is a vivid example of a work of contemporary Japanese literature, which not only realistically reflects the current state of the Japanese language, but also provides a wide range of cultural, sociological and psychological foundations for studying the life of Japanese society today. The analysis of colloquial speech in this work allows us to investigate how its lexical and grammatical features help to convey cultural traditions, values and challenges faced by the characters. We carried out the analysis of translation difficulties in terms of the issue of suggestiveness. The problem of interpretation of the title of the novel in the process of interlingual communication is directly related to this fundamental issue.
