Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of forming the national identity of future artist-vocalists in the solo singing classes. The scientific works that reveal the essence of key and related concepts are reviewed: «identity», «nation», «self-identity», «civic identity», «ethnic identity», «Ukrainian identity». It is found that a nation is a broader concept than an ethnic group, since it represents a broader system of interrelations between social groups, based on socio-cultural and historical commonality, which, in turn, determines the characteristic features of a nation as a socio-civilisational entity. It is emphasised that a significant role in the formation of national identity among students of higher art education institutions is played by the Ukrainian repertoire, which reflects the spiritual values, culture, customs and life of Ukrainians, the worldview and historical past of the people. It is noted that the artistic and figurative embodiment of the work requires the disclosure of the historical context and the study of creative and biographical information about the authors of music and text, as well as a deep interpretive, hermeneutical and semantic analysis. It has been determined that the formation of the national identity of future artist-vocalists in solo singing classes is a purposeful and systematic process of forming a stable emotional connection between the student and the Ukrainian people, its material and spiritual heritage using traditional and modern methods, techniques and forms of teaching, studying works of Ukrainian composers and poets with patriotic content, mastering the traditions of the national school of singing and the principles of Ukrainian vocal pedagogy. It is determined that further research is needed on methods and techniques of teaching solo singing aimed at strengthening national and patriotic education as an integral part of the educational process in higher education during the war and the period of post-war reconstruction of the state. Keywords: higher education; art education; solo singing; identity; national identity; artist-vocalist; vocal and pedagogical repertoire.
