Abstract

The topic of developing socio-emotional skills in primary school pupils is becoming increasingly popular. The article deals with the issue of training future primary school teachers to develop socio-emotional skills (SES) in primary school students. The relevance of the study is due to the growing role of emotional intelligence in the educational process and the need to develop students’ skills of self-regulation, empathy, responsibility and effective communication. The article analyses modern research by domestic and foreign scholars on methods of socio-emotional learning. A written survey was conducted among students of pedagogical specialities to determine the level of their readiness to implement SES in practice. It was found that although students are aware of the importance of socio-emotional learning, they lack practical experience and methodological knowledge for its effective application. The article proposes methodological recommendations for the training of future teachers, including the use of interactive teaching methods, modelling of pedagogical situations, introduction of video content and digital tools. Particular attention is paid to the development of activities that can be used in the future professional activities of students to develop the social and emotional skills of primary school students. Special attention is given to the role of technology in SES development, with a focus on digital resources, gamification, and multimedia tools that can enhance student engagement. The article emphasizes the importance of reflective practices and continuous professional development for future teachers, ensuring they are equipped with strategies to foster a supportive and emotionally intelligent learning environment.
