Abstract

The war in Ukraine and the current socio-political situation in the world as a whole make the issue of forming a Ukraine-centered identity among students in the national school system more relevant than ever. The purpose of the proposed work is to draw the closest attention of scientific-methodological experts and teachers of general secondary education institutions to this issue. We briefly describe the history of the problem and the achievements of Ukrainian scientists and teachers in understanding the main components of a nation-centric identity sphere, namely civic and cultural-national identities, and in developing methodological approaches to solving this problem. We also propose some ways to optimize the process of forming a Ukraine-centered identity in school during lessons of Ukrainian and world literature. We see further research perspectives in studying various deviations of Ukrainian-centered identity, their causes, and ways to overcome them to eliminate the negative impact on youth from certain environments and dubious media through educational means.
