Abstract

The relevance of the presented article is due to a number of objective circumstances, namely: the active development of analytical activities in Ukrainian universities, in particular the creation of analytical centers on the basis of higher education institutions; the priority status of interdisciplinary methodology, which has become a strategic reference point in science and educational practice; the expansion of the functionality of a modern university in the direction of ensuring the safety of students and their psychological comfort, which involves the participation and professional efforts of specialists from various fields. The essence of the interdisciplinary approach as an integration, synergy of different sciences in the sense of constructing new interdisciplinary objects, subjects in order to obtain new coherent scientific knowledge is revealed. The priorities of the interdisciplinary approach are highlighted, which consist in the interaction of different branches of scientific knowledge in the study of the same object, while focusing on their own subject; ensuring the integration of scientific concepts, theories, information, facts, methods, in order to obtain systemic knowledge; promoting openness, nonlinearity, and self development of systems. The “narrow” (“soft”) and “broad” (“hard”) types of interdisciplinarity are characterized. The article analyzes the essence of the concept of university think tanks as structural units that produce research and public policy analytics with the support of the university. The general functions and tasks of university think tanks are highlighted, namely: research and consulting; training of specialists; proposals for the practical application of results; organization of public discussions, seminars, etc. An analysis of the provisions of the activities of Ukrainian think tanks was conducted and their main tasks and functions were identified. Common features in the identified tasks and functions were summarized. The specifics of implementing an interdisciplinary approach in scientific and analytical activities are revealed. Analytical products of Ukrainian university think tanks are presented in view of their application of an interdisciplinary approach.
