Abstract

In the modern world, where information exchange has become global, the quality of translation has become extremely important, especially in the field of mass media. Newspaper and informational texts occupy a significant place in public life, as they shape public opinion, inform and even influence political and social processes. A translator, working with such texts, must not only know the language well, but also possess the stylistics, genre features and cultural codes of the original. Japanese mass media have gone a long way from the first printed leaflets to the modern high-quality press and digital platforms. In the 20th century, Japan took a leading position in the world in terms of the number of newspaper publications. For example, the circulation of daily newspapers exceeds 72 million copies, and Japan is second only to Norway in the number of newspapers per capita. Publications such as Yomiuri Shimbun, Asahi Shimbun, Mainichi, Nikkei, and Sankei have a significant influence on public opinion and even an international audience thanks to their English-language versions.
