Abstract
This study analyzes the lexico-semantic features of the text on Japanese agriculture during the Meiji period, using Peasants, Rebels, Women, and Outcastes: The Underside of Modern Japan by Mikiso Hane as a case study, and examines the translation techniques applied in the process. The research explores the concept of lexicon, classifications of terminology and untranslatable units, as well as the specific challenges of translating agricultural terms and cultural realia. The application of equivalent translation, transcription, adaptation, and other techniques ensures the preservation of the original text’s meaning while accurately conveying its cultural and historical authenticity. The findings confirm that translating texts with specialized lexicon requires a comprehensive approach. These practical insights serve as a foundation for further translation endeavors
