Abstract
The article addresses the issue of rhythm development in first-grade students during integrated "Art" lessons. Through pedagogical monitoring, the concept of "rhythm development" has been clarified, and the role of rhythm as a fundamental element of musical abilities has been revealed - one that contributes to the development of motor skills, coordination, auditory perception, and creative thinking in primary school learners. The main aspects of rhythm development in first graders have been identified. A series of games, creative tasks, and exercises for rhythm development have been adapted and designed. Their application in art lessons is analyzed in accordance with the content of textbooks, taking into account the principle of active music-making and the use of percussion techniques, including body percussion. The pedagogical monitoring has identified the educational potential of integrated art lessons for rhythm development in schoolchildren, particularly their influence on the psycho-emotional, intellectual, and physical development of learners. The use of body percussion elements in the educational process is proposed as a means of ensuring the harmonious development of first graders, fostering their social skills, improvisational abilities, and emotional resilience. The expediency of integrating body percussion into art lessons has been substantiated as an effective tool for developing rhythmic skills, movement coordination, auditory perception, and creative self expression among first-grade students. To address the problem of rhythm development, a series of original games, exercises, and creative tasks incorporating elements of body percussion were adapted and developed for first graders ("Slow and Fast", "Don’t Make a Mistake", "Rain, Rain", "Listen, Stop, Play! ", "Rhythmic Train", "Rhythmic Mirror", and "Rhythmic Wave"). Considering the realities of wartime conditions in Ukraine, exercises with elements of body percussion were also designed for use during online learning. To enhance the musical accompaniment and improve the emotional state of primary school learners, the following musical compositions were selected: "Rain" (video by Nataliya Zavisko), "Stefania" (performed by Kalush Orchestra), "Wednesday" (song "Bloody Mary" by Lady Gaga), "Happy Palms" (video by Ihor Domashenko), and "You and I" (performed by Svitlana Tarabarova, video by Yuliia Vasko). The issue of rhythm development requires further research. Future prospects include expanding the range of tasks, exercises, games, and video content, as well as adapting the materials for teaching students with special educational needs. These directions outline the prospects for further study of the problem.
