Abstract
The relevance of the study is due to modern educational transformations, in particular, the implementation of the Concept "New Ukrainian School", which orients the educational process towards the formation of key competencies, among which communicative competence occupies a leading place. In primary school, especially in grades 3–4, there is an intensive development of speech, thinking and social interaction of students, which requires targeted pedagogical support. Analysis of pedagogical practice indicates the presence of difficulties in forming in younger schoolchildren the skills to reasonably express their own opinion, conduct a dialogue, understand the emotional state of characters and interlocutors. This actualizes the search for effective methods and forms of work that can activate students' communicative activity. The work substantiates that a literary work is an effective means of forming communicative competence, as it contributes to the development of speech skills, emotional and value sphere and interaction skills. A contradiction has been identified between the potential of a literary work in the formation of students' communicative competence and the insufficient level of methodological support for this process in the practice of primary school. The purpose of the work is to determine and substantiate pedagogical conditions, methods and techniques that ensure the effective formation of communicative competence of students in grades 3–4 in the process of working on a literary work. The practical significance of the master's thesis lies in the development and testing of a system of interactive exercises and techniques for working with a literary work aimed at developing speech activity, dialogic speech and cooperation skills of students in grades 3–4. The proposed materials can be used by primary school teachers during literary reading lessons and in extracurricular activities.
