Abstract

Emotional experience is one of the factors of harmonious development, successful learning, and socialization of students. We understand the emotional experience of younger schoolchildren as a set of emotions, impressions, experiences, and feelings that a child acquires in the process of learning about the world, himself, and interacting with others. Based on the analysis of scientists' research, the following components and corresponding criteria were identified in the structure of the emotional experience of 3rd grade students: cognitive (emotional awareness); emotional (emotional sensitivity); activity (emotional behavior); reflective (emotional reflection). The levels of emotional experience formation in 3rd grade students were determined: high, medium, low. To determine the level of emotional experience of schoolchildren, a set of diagnostic tools was used, which allowed assessing all components of emotional experience: cognitive – the questionnaire «My Emotional World» to determine knowledge about emotions, recognition and understanding of the causes of emotions; emotional – the task «Emotional Faces» to determine the ability to recognize emotions by facial expressions; activity – observation of students' behavior with recording the results in the «Observation Map»; reflective – the method of unfinished sentences. An analysis of empirical studies of the emotional experience of 3rd grade students showed that the most pronounced was the cognitive component – the ability to recognize emotions by verbal and nonverbal signs, the least developed is the reflective component – the ability to analyze one's own emotions, the causes of their occurrence, and the impact on behavior. It has been found that only 10% of primary school students have a high level of emotional experience. 45% of the subjects were found to have an average and low level of emotional experience. The study of social and health-preserving educational subjects in elementary school has significant opportunities for enriching emotional experience. It introduces a wide range of emotions through practical exercises, situational, and game tasks, and promotes the acquisition of skills to express, recognize, and manage emotions, and to reveal them in interaction with classmates.
