Abstract

The relevance of the research topic is determined by: firstly, the updated standard of primary education, which requires students to develop educational independence. Secondly, the fact that oral communication skills are key to the effectiveness of the educational process and the formation of general learning competencies in primary school students. Thirdly, the need to find the most effective methodological techniques for developing oral interaction, among which case technology is a promising educational technique that develops creative thinking, communication skills and teamwork skills based on the consideration of real or simulated situations. The research highlights the peculiarities of using case technology in reading lessons as a means of developing oral communication skills in primary school pupils. It is emphasised that the use of problem-situational and plot-role cases contributes to active comprehension of the content of works, the development of dialogical and monological speech, and the ability to argue and negotiate. It is noted that case technology ensures the inclusion of even passive students in joint communication through game elements, modelling of life situations, and personal involvement. Particular attention is paid to situational role-playing cases as the most effective method for stimulating critical thinking, empathy, the ability to listen to others and make joint decisions. Examples are given of the use of cases in the study of literary texts, demonstrating the possibilities of modelling alternative plot lines and moral choices of characters. It is emphasised that the combination of text, discussion and dialogue transforms the reading lesson into an interactive space for the development of oral communication. The purpose of research is to theoretically substantiate and experimentally verify the effectiveness of using the case method in reading lessons to develop the communication skills of primary school pupils.
