Abstract

Today, the education system is aimed not only at the transmission of knowledge, but also at the formation of the ability of students to observe, analyze, draw conclusions, that is, at the development of research skills. This process starts in the younger school age, when students of primary education are forming the foundations of a scientific worldview, cognitive activity and independence in acquiring knowledge. The importance of forming research skills in primary school students is also emphasized in the content of key educational documents, in particular in the State Standard of Primary Education (2018), the Law of Ukraine "On Education" (2017) and the Concept of the New Ukrainian School (2016). However, when forming research skills in primary school students, teachers face a number of difficulties, in particular, insufficient formation of cognitive motivation, limited experience of practical search, lack of systematicity in conducting elementary experiments. Such difficulties necessitate the introduction of effective teaching methods and techniques that will promote the active involvement of primary school students in cognitive activity. One of the educational areas, during the mastering of which there is a significant potential in the formation of research skills of primary school students, is “I explore the world”. This educational area is an integration of knowledge from various areas, which is the basis for the formation of practical research skills, the development of critical thinking and the ability to establish cause-and-effect relationships. The issue of the formation of research skills of primary school students was studied by such scientists as: Bibik N., Voloshchuk I., Pometun O., Savchenko O., Tymenko V., Tsukerman G. and others. The organization of research activities of primary school students is considered in the works of Kotelyanets N., Levinets I., Lyashenko O., Martynets L., Shiyan R. However, there is a need for a deeper analysis of pedagogical conditions that contribute to the effective formation of elementary research skills in the lessons of the integrated course “I explore the world”. This led to the choice of the topic of scientific research: “Formation of elementary research skills of primary school students in the lessons of the course “I explore the world”. The purpose of the work is to determine the features of the formation of elementary research skills in primary school students in the lessons of the course “I explore the world”. The practical significance of the master's qualification project lies in:  Development of methodological materials: Creation and testing of a set of pedagogical conditions aimed at the effective formation of research skills that can be directly implemented in the educational process of primary school. Development of methodological recommendations for primary school teachers on the organization and conduct of educational research and project activities within the framework of the integrated course "I explore the world".  Diagnostic tools: Creation of criteria, indicators and diagnostic methods (tests, tasks) that allow objectively assessing the level of development of students' research skills (as confirmed by a snippet with examples of tasks). This toolkit can be used by teachers to monitor progress.  Use in education: The possibility of using the results of the research and the developed materials in the system of training and retraining of pedagogical personnel, as well as in advanced training courses for primary school teachers. The materials can serve as a practical basis for improving curricula and manuals for younger schoolchildren.
