Abstract
The study addresses the problem of developing the ability to argue one’s own statements in fourth-grade pupils within the context of the New Ukrainian School reform. The significance of argumentation skills as a component of pupils’ communicative, cognitive, and social competences is substantiated. The current state of the problem is analyzed in scientific literature and educational practice. A teaching and learning methodological framework aimed at developing pupils’ argumentation skills in Ukrainian language lessons in primary school is designed and experimentally tested.
