Abstract

The article reveals the theoretical and methodological foundations of developing language and communication skills of 4th-grade students through digital educational resources. The psychological and pedagogical features of forming communicative competence in primary school children, as well as the development of their ability to express themselves and communicate in various types, styles, and forms of speech, are analyzed. Modern trends in updating the content of Ukrainian language instruction aimed at developing language and communication skills of primary school students are described. The linguodidactic principles of forming language and communicative competence in learners of primary language education are cha-racterized. The issues related to the principles of selecting linguistic and speech material for Ukrainian language lessons in primary school are examined. The role of the digital educational environment in stimulating students’ speech activity, thinking, and communicative interaction is defined. The article outlines the potential of modern interactive platforms, multimedia resources, electronic textbooks, online exercises, and digital tools for developing oral and written communication skills, enriching vocabulary, fostering linguistic awareness, and improving the ability to create coherent utterances. The importance of systematically integrating digital technologies into the system of primary language education and their impact on the quality of Ukrainian language instruction andstudents’ speech development is substantiated. Scientific and practical approaches to organizing the educational process during Ukrainian language lessons with the use of communicative language and speech tasks, as well as instructional speech situations,are proposed. A set of language and communication exercises aimed at improving the level of communicative competence among 4th-grade students has been developed. Methodological recommendations for primary school teachers regarding the language and communicative development of learners are provided. The article concludes with an emphasis on the significant potential of digital resources in forming students’ language and communication skills and outlines prospects for further research in this area.
