Abstract

In this guide, values, happiness and subjective well-being are elevated to the status of research topics and subjects, which are proposed for study with undergraduate and postgraduate students. Furthermore, the components of research and design activities form the basis for structuring the educational content of the publication into sections: the material in Section I concerns values, Section II – happiness, and Section III – subjective well-being. The organisation of the content across the three sections follows this structure: 1) examination of the research methodology, specifically: the object, subject, aim, objectives, hypothesis, theoretical research methods (comparison, analysis, synthesis, concretisation, classification, abstraction based on identification and isolation) and empirical methods; 2) organisation of the practical implementation of scientific research using: a) the authors’ schemes for various types of analysis, namely: predictive, descriptive, diagnostic, inferential, cluster and content analysis; b) tasks to correlate the research objectives on values, happiness and subjective well-being formulated by the authors of the manual with the relevant scientific works of domestic and foreign scholars, the content of which is cited in this publication; 3) the design by students of their own research using materials from the six reference books to implement the plans devised during the rotational model of work placements for undergraduate students and work placements for postgraduate students. The content of this guide is designed to: help overcome reactive anxiety in situations of uncertainty; organise a systematic approach to developing research skills; and provide students with practice in carrying out research and project work. The guide has been developed in accordance with the provisions of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Academic Integrity’ (2026). The works of scholars cited in this publication are referenced. For diagrams, figures, tables and charts, authorship is indicated using the following abbreviations: dev. by us (developed by us, i.e. the authors of the guide); dev. by us using source [No.] (developed by us using source [] (the source number is indicated in square brackets)); cited: author’s first name and surname; cited: source [No.] (source [No.] cited).
