Abstract

The article considers media as an effective tool for developing creative activity in primary school pupils. It reveals the peculiarities of their influence on the development of critical thinking, imagination, and communication skills in younger schoolchildren. Scientific approaches to defining the concepts of “media education” and “media tools” are analysed, and the psychological and pedagogical conditions for the effective use of media in the educational process are outlined. Examples of tasks and methods that promote the development of creative activity through the creation of one’s own media products are given. It has been found that the modern educational environment is increasingly focused on the systematic integration of media tools into primary education to stimulate creative thinking in younger schoolchildren. Based on the scientific literature, the essence of the concepts of “media education” and “media means” was determined. The article outlines the tasks and directions of media education in primary school, aimed at the formation of media literacy. Media education is growing as a process of preparing students for a critical perception of information, distinguishing facts, and creative use of media products. Difficulties in the implementation of media tools are identified, and recommendations are given for overcoming them, which contribute to improving attention, originality, flexibility, creativity, motivation, and independence. Forms and methods of organizing media classes are described, aimed at developing critical thinking, the ability to analyze, justify one’s position, create simple media, but also at forming teamwork and independent work skills. Examples of creative media tasks have been developed, such as the project “What is food for a person”, the exercise “Daily routine”, the comic “Take care of your skin”, and the word cloud “Human body”.
