Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive translation and linguistic analysis of Sheila Newberry’s novel The Girl by the Sea. The primary objective of the project is to render the narrative from the source language into the target language while preserving the nuanced emotional tone and stylistic richness of the original text. Particular attention is given to the translation of multi-level communicative elements that convey the emotional states of the characters, including lexical, syntactic, and cultural markers. It also includes the selection of adequate translation solutions in the case of metaphorical expressions, realia, historicisms, and military terminology. The work includes a comparison of different translation strategies, identification of typical difficulties and suggestions for overcoming them
